Southpaw Pictures is coming back to the Pix Theatre! Come support local filmmakers Nick Slover, Kane Weekly and Emitt Burris by experiencing a double-feature of two of their most recent short films, “BLOOD ORANGE” and “TIME TO TIME.” “BLOOD ORANGE” follows two henchmen from different levels of a powerful crime family who are both struggling to find their place in the underworld. Veteran hitman Valentine (Nick Slover) finds himself disillusioned with his current lot in life and tries to find a way out, while amateur henchman Rodney (Emitt Burris) tries to climb the criminal ladder to impress his ruthless brother, The Boss (Wyatt Burris). But both Valentine and Rodney soon realize that nothing in this life comes easy. Set in the year 2187, where time travel is a part of everyday life, “TIME TO TIME” follows Time Agent 627 (Kane Weekly) as he travels through time in an attempt to thwart the evil schemes of Horace Elliot, AKA Tempus (Blake Guerrero), and his shadowy criminal organization called the Faces of Time. Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. The action adventure also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles. Directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis and Tim Lewis, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” opens in theaters July 25, 2025.
